Why your crew "forgets" their safety forms and timesheets (and how to fix it)
I’ve stood on enough job sites to see the move. A foreman tells you his phone died, or the "app just won't sync," or, my personal favorite, the tablet screen is too muddy to tap. It’s rarely a tech issue. Usually, it’s just the guys being tired of jumping through hoops.
The problem with SiteDocs isn't the software, it’s actually a pretty clean app. The problem is that it only does safety.
To a guy in the field, SiteDocs is just a digital version of the "Safety Cop." It’s a chore. It doesn't help them get through their day; it just creates an extra step between them and the actual work.
The "Three App" Headache I talked to a supervisor last week who was losing his mind. He had one app for his safety forms (SiteDocs), a messy group chat for his timesheets, and he was still calling the shop foreman twice a day to ask if the skid steer was serviced.
When you ask a crew to use three different systems, they’re going to pick the one that gets them paid (timesheets) and ignore the rest.
One Way We Fixed This Problem

My Take

The "Grandpa" Tip: Don't tell your guys you're getting a "Safety System." Tell them you're getting a new way to do timesheets so their pay is always right. Then, just "happen" to have the safety forms in there too.
For me, nothing improves productivity and compliance more than by having everything in a single tool. It takes the stress out and lets me focus on the bigger picture.
